A Couple of my Favorite Kid Decor Items in my Home~

Thank you to The Land of Nod for sponsoring this post.

Today I wanted to share a couple of my favorite kid decor items in my home.

I have had an infatuation with the teepee craze since it burst on the scene a couple of years ago.  And I knew that I wanted to add a teepee to  my little boys' room when we moved to Hydeaway Cottage.

In my search for teepees, I ran across this adorable teepee from The Land of Nod.

I loved the black and white stripes and the fact that it is portable and easy to set up and take down.  My boys often carry it to different places in the house and set it up as a "fort".

The rug in my daughter's room is the Color Static Rug also from The Land of Nod.

I had originally planned on using this rug in my boys' room as well, but once I got it, I noticed that it had a lot more pink in it than I had originally thought.  It turned out to be absolutely perfect for my daughter's space though.

I really like the rug because it is thick and soft and even though it is a kid's rug, it has a level of sophistication to it that I love in the space.  In addition, the fact that there are so many colors in this particular rug means that it can be used in an entirely different space and look just as good! Since I love to switch decor around periodically, items that can be used in many different spaces are always a good idea in my book.

The Land of Nod provided the teepee and rug to me at no charge.  The opinions expressed about them are 100%  mine.  I love The Land of Nod!

Final Frugal Favorites~

Welcome to the final Frugal Favorites post!

I'm loving this great built-in hall table linked up by Lehman Lane.  Such a great space-saving idea!

Scavenger Chic shared this cute chalkboard buffet.  I love this idea!

Thanks to everyone who has linked up to Frugal Friday in the past!  I'll miss hosting these parties and seeing all of your Frugal inspiration!

Autumn Living Room Refresh~

Thank you to RugsUSA for sponsoring this post.

Hello Lovelies~

Fall is in the air and I'm so excited! I just love the cooler air and the changing leaves...and hot chocolate.  Don't forget hot chocolate.

I recently gave my living room a little refresh for fall.

The refresh really centered around this pretty rug, the Treasures rug, that I received from RugUSA.  I thought it would be nice to add a rug that is a little bit darker than the one that I had previously been using in the space.

I looked at a lot of rugs on the RugsUSA site before settling on this one.  The gray-blue hue is perfect for the colors I already had in the room - tying in the throw pillows on the sofa perfectly.  It's nice and thick and I'm very happy with it!

I moved my vase with the twigs from off of the console table and added in some cute stems with wooden disks.  They feel so autumn-y!

I love the subtle change in the space!  Bring on autumn!!

RugsUSA provided the rug to me free of charge for review.  The opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine.

Thin For You Thursday~

Welcome to this week's Thin For You Thursday!  This week's post is going to be short and sweet....

How'd it go last week?

Were you able to give yourself some positive affirmation?  Were you able to find the good things and make sure you reminded yourself of them?

Remember...we all  have wonderful qualities.  Look for them! Nurture them.  And most of all remind yourself of them.  And do it daily!

Did you make time to work out this week?  Celebrate that!
Did you make a healthy food choice when you could have had junk food?  That's a victory!
Did you get enough sleep?  Give yourself a pat on the back.

Weight loss is work!  But it has big pay offs!  So keep going!

The Lighting in My House~

Thanks to Shades of Light For Sponsoring This Post

I am lucky to have been working with a wonderful company, Shades of Light, to replace much of the builder grade lighting in my house with custom pieces.  Today I thought it would be fun to share with you  the pieces I have added.  A sort of shopping guide, if you will!

The light in my dining room is the Springfield Linen Shade Chandelier in polished nickel.  And the pendant lights in my kitchen (below) are the accompanying Springfield Framed Linen Shade Lanterns in polished nickel.  They are large fixtures, and I really love the presence they have in the room!

My daughter's bedroom (below) has one of my favorite fixtures in it. It's called the Beaded Elegance Ceiling Light and I really do love it's elegant look.

The little boys' room (below) has the adorable antique mirror star ceiling light that I love.  This light is not a bright light, and it's glow is amber because of the antiquing of the glass.  Since I use lamps in each of my rooms, however, the  fact that this light is not super bright isn't an issue for  me.  I really love it for the look!

Finally, I used this adorable Moravian Star Ceiling Light (below) in polished nickel in my entry.  The entry is really hard to get a good photo of, so I'm just going to share this photo from the Shades of Light website for now.

I really think that lighting can make a space...it certainly has made a difference in the rooms in my house.  I have been very impressed with Shades of Light and this beautiful lighting.

My lighting was provided to me by Shades of Light free of charge in exchange for advertising and posts regarding their wonderful products.  The opinions expressed by me about Shades of Light are 100% mine.

Thin For You Thursday - Positive Self Talk

Welcome to this week's Thin For You Thursday!

Holly and I were talking about what to do for this week's post and she had the idea of talking about Daily Positive Affirmations.  I couldn't agree more!

Negative self talk is one of the biggest ways that we sabotage our own success.  And I admit that I am extremely guilty of this.  Not long ago I decided to make mental note of how often I found myself thinking negative thoughts about myself.  Thoughts about how I wasn't good enough, or skinny enough or pretty enough or anything else along those lines.

I was saddened to note that my self talk was predominantly negative.  Oh, I would sneak a positive thought in there occasionally, but the negative thoughts happened much more often.  I feel like our society predisposes us to be hard on ourselves.  We are constantly comparing ourselves to the perfect and shiny social media versions of others.  We are bombarded day after day with photo-shopped versions of beauty.  And although logically we know that the things we see in the media are not really the way they are in life, our minds see them so often that it is hard for us to believe our own logic.

This is especially true when we are on a weight loss journey.  With the hyper-thin culture that greets us daily from any glowing screen or magazine, it is sometimes very difficult to see ourselves as the beautiful human beings that we are if we have any excess weight at all.  And when you have 30 or so pounds to lose like I do, it is even more difficult.  But you know what?  We are beautiful! Really, we are!  Our weight isn't what defines our beauty.  Neither is our wardrobe, our home, our car, or anything else.  Our beauty is inherent in who we are.  And we need to learn to embrace that.

In order to be successful on our journey in this life, we need to learn to love ourselves!

This week's challenge:
So this week, we encourage everyone reading this post, to practice POSITIVE SELF TALK!
Take a minute to look in the mirror daily and give yourself a Positive Affirmation.
Make it real.  Pick one of your features that you love and tell yourself that you love it!  Choose one of your personality characteristics that you are happy with and tell yourself that!
We all have so much good in us, and so  many things about our lives to be grateful for.
Find them and share them WITH YOURSELF!

Next week, we'll check in and see how everyone did on this challenge.  People have been pretty quiet in the comments section since we started this weekly feature, but we'd really like to hear from you, so make sure and leave a comment telling us how your weight loss journey is going!

Have a great (and positive) week!
